LG Folder 2 flip phone announced: Dual Display, SOS Key, and 4G support

While we’re mostly eager to get more details about the LG Velvet, the Korean company surprised us by announcing a new flip phone, dubbed the LG Folder 2.

The LG Folder 2 is aimed at people on a tight budget and those who prefer a simple to use phone.

Folder 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 210 SoC paired with 1GB of RAM. It has 8GB of onboard storage and comes with two screens: a 2.8″ QVGA primary display and a 0.9″ monochrome secondary panel for displaying text and call notifications.

The flip phone comes with SOS Key and Hotkey buttons. The first is located on the back with the main 2MP camera and allows you to quickly call a pre-stored number by triple tapping it within 1.5 seconds. It also shares your location with the number via text message.

The hotkey, on the other hand, is placed on the front above the call button and allows you to invoke the AI voice service or start the call recording feature. However, the availability of these features depends on the operators.

The flip phone packs a 1,470mAh battery and has two color options: white and new platinum gray (translated from Korean).

Folder 2 is priced at 198,000 KRW ($160/€150) and will go on sale in South Korea from April 17. We have yet to find out if it will come out of LG’s home market and when.
